Addendum to Swades

One thing I forgot to mention in the Swades review (in retrospect, I can't belv I forgot to mention it), is that Gayatri Joshi who played the role of Geeta is really beautiful. She acted well too (in the song about Ram, and in the final scene when she gestures to Shahrukh to clean up his 'kusti' mess are two instances..

Another great point brought up by my brother Kalyan - The director showed an excellent parallel between the two instances of technology being used for the welfare of the mankind, not in so many words, but through great picturization. The first instance is Shahrukh working with the village folks to build the turbine and to get electricity to the village. The other is when he works with other engineers in NASA to build a satellite. They are in two different countries, and hence based on the state of the countries, are at two different levels. Both are immensely satisfying to Shahrukh in their own right. The two instances in the movie, though, were separated by love/bonding emotion scenes, and may be that's why many may not get the parallel. But, did I see a glimpse of the turbine scene in the middle of the NASA scene? Or is it just me dreaming it out now? Should check it more carefully when I check it next time.
